{31 Days} Jesus is Love

Greater love has no one than this, to lay down ones life for ones friends john 15:13

Jesus loves us, but more than that he {IS} love.

Romans 5:7-8

Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

There are people I KNOW I would die for.  These are the loves in my life.  Would I die for a stranger I would like to think I would.. but to be honest I don’t know.  Recently in Oregon a man went to a community college, with the intent to kill Christians, he was stopped by a hero. Chris Mintz, an Army Veteran, stepped in front of a door to block it, was shot 3 times before he hit the floor, and then shot multiple times after that.  Fortunately non of the shots were fatal. He did it for people he didn’t even know. It’s amazing and inspiring that there are people out there like that.

Jesus is that person, at all times.  If there is no greater love than to lay your life down for a friend.  What is it to lay your life down for all of humanity? Knowing that some people will deny you, you will be ridiculed, and there will be people to refuse to even acknowledge your sacrifice?  That is the purest form of love.  He didn’t just die, he was beaten, spit on, tortured within an inch of his life, before he was brutally nailed to a cross.  That is how much he loves us.  He was willing to do whatever it took to save who ever chose to love him and believe in him.

Thank you Jesus for loving us.

xoxo
